Raising a small backyard flock of chickens in Phoenix, Arizona
So you want to have backyard chickens…
Have you thought that getting your own fresh eggs would be fun, or maybe you want some fertilizer for your garden or maybe you’ve heard that chickens will eat lots of bugs around your yard. These are all true, but having chickens is not as easy as you think.
I knew a couple of people that had chickens and I thought it was very strange. I mean, it’s the city, not the country, but I took the Arcadia Edible Garden Tour and I was hooked on the idea of getting chickens. Side note-If you have not been on this tour and live near Phoenix, AZ, I highly recommend it. It is a tour of people’s yards that love to garden and you will be amazed at what we can grow in the desert. It is where my gardening obsession started.
